After a day on the fells, Ambleside truly shines in the evening. Cosy inns serve local ales, award-winning restaurants showcase Cumbrian produce, and candlelit cafés offer the perfect spot to unwind.
Here are some of our favourite places to eat in Ambleside:
Zeffirelli’s (note it is a vegetarian but always great food) “Zeffs” as its known locally, also has a few cinema screens in the town, so you can eat and be entertained afterwards.
The Old Stamp House – for a special occasion it has to be the Old Stamp House. You need to book well in advance but it’s worth it.
The Schelly – the sister restaurant to The Old Stamp House, serving small plates for casual dinning very much like tapas
The new Tap Yard in Ambleside is always busy and buzzing after a day on the fells. Its great for good food and people watching at the same time.
Priest Hole Ambleside – Traditional British and Cumbrian food. A standard bearer for quality food in the town for years.
The Jin Tana Thai restaurant a great Thai Restaurant right in the heart of Ambleside. Lovely ambiance inside and super friendly staff.
